Perspective

Truly is everything

Life always leaves us with multiple choices, simplify it down to two. Happy or Unhappy.
We as a people need to realize that life can be simpler than we make it out to be.

I'm not talking about making money, careers, health etc...(although what I'm about to talk about could potentially help you there as well).

I'm simply talking about being. Being yourself. Being present. Being aware. Being.

We know that in this lifetime, there will be good, bad & ugly at times. So why do we focus on all the negative things? It appears to be (in my opinion) that for some reason, it is human nature. Why? Path of least resistance maybe?

This has bothered me for many years. I've watched individuals both close and just in passing focus on the negative. Over the CLEAR positives.

WHY?

We have the ability to make choices, no? So why do we continue to do this? I'm speaking about it because I used to do it as well. Why? Maybe it's part attention, part need of confirmation of said issues/negative things...who knows.

What I've learned over the years is that, well, I have a choice. "Ryan, we already established this."

Right we did, yet we continue to focus on the negative. Until you actually awaken and START to make the choices needed to be happy, then you never really are making these said choices.

I know the cheesy saying "What's the definition of insanity?" is highly over used HOWEVER, it was created for a reason. We have the choice to be happy but we don't.  We continually make these choices.....

Time to stop as I did many years ago. Now don't mistake what I'm saying. I'm not by any means saying every day is always perfect. What I'm saying is as I start to get angry/frustrated or down whether it be about work, life, love, family....whatever, I go back to a very simple thought that has kept me in check for many years. Perspective.

When all seems lost, times going dark, this is always what brings me back. Perspective is everything.

It could be something simple like I have food on my table or I have a loving wife & children. I have a great understanding of the simple now and I truly believe this PERSPECTIVE can help a lot of people.

For those of you reading this who feel trapped. No, buried, under a deep layer of never ending abyss full of feeling alone and and unwanted.

I'm telling you for a fact, you're wrong. Even if there is just one person out there who loves you and wants to be there for you, that's enough. Stop finding reasons to be unhappy.

Start realizing the reasons why you should and CAN be happy. I don't care how you do it. If you think its tacky, great, it'll probably help & work.

For me, I used to have a note hidden on a post it that said PERSPECTIVE in capital letters. I used to look at it every morning and specifically when I was down in any way shape or form.

I say used to because it is embedded in me now. Every waking minute of every day. No matter what has happened, I'm reminded to always think in perspective. Does it completely negate the difficult times, no. That's not the point.

This process helps me move forward while taking time to focus on the positives in EVERY situation.

I'm writing about this because this whole process has been something that has kept my head above water these past two years since my mom passed away. Perspective, keeps us in check. When I'm questioning things, my relationship with my mom and whether she knew how much I love her, my life and everything I've been through. Perspective reminds me to look for the light. To focus on the good that I do, in fact, have in my life.

The light, my friends, is always there. You just need to open your eyes to let it in.
Light always shines through
